We originally began raising grassfed beef, because our daughter was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, called, “Sjögren’s syndrome.” She was told that she could no longer have grain-fed beef, but rather should be including grassfed beef as an important part of her recommended diet plan, as grass-fed beef is higher in anti-inflammatory essential fats.
After learning this, she came to us with this information and asked, “Dad, could you raise a grassfed beef?”
Dad, of course, said, “Sure!”
As we were researching what it takes to finish a grassfed beef, we discovered that while it is customarily common to feed cows grain, our own research shows that God didn’t design cattle to eat grain; grass-fed cattle are a naturally healthier choice!
“You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth food from the earth”
God designed for cattle to eat grass as their primary feed source.
Only God can make grass grow – Man does not make true grass.
Cattle are given as food for us, from the earth. As a result, the quality and healthiness of the beef is dependent upon the cleanliness and fertility of the soil.
God created grass purely and primarily for animal feed, not for expansive lawns.
Grass is more than green- it is a “green” feed to be harvested the beasts of the earth, and does not require petroleum fuel for production.
“The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?”
Our family has firmly placed itself into these principles and embraced them. You, my friends, can reap the benefit of our labors!
Give our grass-raised Angus beef a try; you’ll never want to go back to your old ways, again!
